Aidan Bruce Alberts

Aidan has a B.S. degree in Earth Science from the University of California at Santa Cruz. He is now a candidate for an M.A. in Literature at San Francisco State University.

“Promise the Girl” will strike readers at first as proposing an extremely unlikely picture of an astronaut: a daughter whose father didn’t want her but had to accept her when her mother died in childbirth. However, readers will begin to see very soon that the girl’s predetermined career of an interstellar astronaut is figurative rather than real. The important things in her life are abandonment and, ultimately, a cruel betrayal from which she can escape only by taking determined action.
