R. D. has published one non-fiction article, which stands as an object of pride in addition to a few poems and many humorous pieces.

“An Interlude on the Way Home” has occasioned some discussion about its classification. Is it poetry or what? The Managing Editor finally decided to call it prose poetry, As flash fiction, it would be open to the objection that it’s really a vignette, because it ends where it began. But readers will surely say that, since it depicts music visually, it does what it’s supposed to do. The musician and audience remain as they were at the beginning while the musical interlude suspends time.
