Drunk Tank

by Shauna Checkley

Baker-Miller pink
The shade that calms drunks
Slow that heart rate
Take deep breaths
Here’s hoping to hell you sleep
Curled up in that marsupial pouch
of a cell

Given the old heave-ho!
First out of the donut shop
Then into the back of the cruiser
Finally headfirst into the cell
Singing and bleeding all the way
Edvard Munch-like screams
Rise Hallelujah to another day
