Bewildering Stories welcomes...
John F. Keane
John has published several scholarly papers as well as literary science fiction and poetry. His academic work has had to do with the emergent properties of complexity. He’s currently writing a satirical science fiction novel about the social and political implications of the Singularity.
“Lord of Time” is a short poem that moves seamlessly between different modes. It is by turns lyrical, light-hearted and profound. It seems to fit all the most frequent commonplaces of classical poetry at the same time: memento mori, sic transit gloria mundi, and ubi sunt. And it leaves the readers pondering their place in geologic time as they make their way through yesterday’s snowfall. That is quite a tour de force!
