Bewildering Stories introduces and welcomes...

Margaret Pearce

Margaret became a fan of fantasy literature at an early age. Somewhat later in life, she became a copywriter in advertising. With children and an Arts degree from Monash University, she has published articles, short stories, and poetry as well as young adult novels in print and e-books.

The Janus Paradox” emphasizes how a telepathic society might deter corruption. The story also illustrates the same society’s indifference to unjust capital punishment performed by a non-telepathic offworld administrator, a “killer for hire,” so to speak. The implication seems to be that mind-reading is liable to create taboos incomprehensible to those who lack the peculiar mental power.
