Charles C. Parsons

Bewildering Stories biography

Chuck Parsons was a personal injury lawyer for fifty years who marveled at his clients’ flaws and fantasies while he represented them. Now retired, in his twilight years, he’s writing about them. He lives peacefully in Washington D.C., with his wife and his two nearby grown children and his four grandsons.

[About his professional and literary careers, Charles says:]

I grew up in South Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin before settling in Washington D.C. where I practiced law for fifty years. I’ve tried over four hundred jury trials and experienced the unpredictability of all manner of verdicts.

Each trial pitted my deserving protagonist against a dishonorable antagonist in a real-life dispute bound for an unknown outcome. Most of the verdicts reflected noble concepts of justice, but some stood logic on its head. I don’t need prompts for stories; my profession served up a treasure trove of conflicts complete with swaggering characters. My challenge is to reduce these tales to writing.

“The Status Quo Ante” will be his first published short story.
