Bewildering Stories biography

Contrary to popular speculation, I am not the same Gabriel de Anda as Jeff VanderMeer’s character of the same name in his 1993 short story/poem “Flight Is For Those Who Have Not Yet Crossed Over.”

At least the last time I checked.

My primary love is for science fiction and fantasy. I have sold stories which were published in Gordon Linzner’s Space and Time and in Chris Reed’s British magazine Backbrain Recluse.

I have had poetry published in Best New Chicano Writing of 1986 edited by, among others, the Nobel Laureate Mario Vargas Llosa. A short story of mine titled “Par Autre Vie” won the silver in the Magnolia and Moonlight Fiction Contest of 2002, organized by author Mark Hoover and judged by the writer James Van Pelt. Two of my stories, “Local Color” and “My Year To Be a Horse,” were quarter-finalists in the 2002 Ray Bradbury Fellowship/New Century Writer Awards.

I’ve self-published a collection of stories and three science fiction novels. They are:

My author’s website is at gabrielsdeanda.com

I am honored to be a part of the stories gathered by Bewildering Stories, which is a cornucopia of superb, nicely imagined and very entertaining fiction, and it’s exciting to be part of that.
