My Own World
by Bill Bowler
Hanging out in my own world
Minding my own business
wondering what it’s all about
or if it makes a difference
Waiting for the Boogey Man
to put in an appearance
Haven’t seen him in a bit
I guess he’s got his hands full
he’ll stop by when he can
we’ll have a drink and catch up quick
and that will be the end of it
I can’t remember how we met
It may be better to forget
He and I go back a ways
The first time I bumped into him
was in my younger days
It’s all a blur
but best as I recall
I was sitting in a bar
the light was dim
music playing, people dancing
The Boogey Man strolled in
came my way, struck up a conversation
just small talk, nothing big
nothing serious, we had a laugh
observed how nothing lasts
and did some heavy drinking
This was at a point in life
before I started thinking
