Bewildering Stories introduces and welcomes...
Scott C. Scharlach
Scott Scharlach is a graduate student in physics who also enjoys reading and writing science fiction and fantasy. His previous stories have been published in an anthology of short science fiction.
“Logan’s Law” introduces an unusual comic character nicknamed “Logan.” It is an interstellar robot explorer designed on Earth and is equipped to contend with many different unearthly ecologies and societies. Logan also has a joyous enthusiasm for discovery and is ready to recount his findings to anybody, including Marshall, a hiker who is out looking for discoveries of his own in the natural wilderness.
But Marshall may not be very interested in what, for him, amounts to science fiction; he represents a society that has lost interest in space and has abandoned space flight. Indeed, Logan may have discovered that the societies of Earth are beginning to follow in their own way the path taken by other intelligent beings nearby in the galaxy.
