Patrick S. Smith

Patrick Smith lives in Columbus, Georgia. He is retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve and is currently employed as a Remote Resolution Specialist.

My Friend, Death” will surely prompt the feeling that it’s a good thing the story is told from the point of view of a third person, fully omniscient narrator. If the narrator were first person, Owen Dixon himself, he’d overstep a guideline.

But no matter: readers will learn soon enough that we have here a ghost story in which everyone is a ghost. And that’s precisely the point: these ghosts were once real people. Why shouldn’t they continue to be real in their afterlives? Technicalities aside, readers will enjoy above all the story’s good nature and good humor.

Patrick S. Smith’s bio sketch can be found here.

Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Patrick. We’re glad to have you with us.
