Adam lives in Annapolis, Maryland, where he observes “the human condition” with mutually offsetting humour and unease. He has published fiction in various magazines and has co-authored a book on the commerce of the Lehigh Valley.

“ReBoot” tells how people might use time travel to extricate themselves from danger or even merely socially awkward situations. Just press a button and, zap, you’ve time-traveled exactly one hour into the past, which should be enough to allow you a mulligan, or “do-over.”

It’s surely best not to take the story literally. If everybody started pressing their “reboot” buttons to escape danger or to correct a social “oops,” what would happen to the world? The universe? “We’ll all have to wait around till those Earthlings figure out what they should have done the first time.” No, best we just take the story as a friendly reminder to be careful, because we don’t really have any “reboot” buttons to push.
