I’m a native Californian who has lived abroad and wandered the world. I love capturing the flavors of a place in writing. As an ambitious child, I imagined myself writing books and articles while leading a life of adventure and travel. Now, after raising two humans to adulthood and retiring from a challenging career in higher education, I am emerging as a writer at last.
When I’m not writing, I’m traveling, hiking, appreciating city life and investing in my relationships with friends and family. I enjoy exchanging piercingly insightful barbs with friends in my critique group, the Davis Writers Salon.
I use the pen name T. L. Shane for some of my weirder science fiction and fantasy stories (https://tlshane.com).
