The Hidden Truth

(a true story)

It was a sunny day in southwest Florida. My wife and I were dropping off our children at Playmates Daycare. My wife was driving. She pulled up to a stop sign and waited for a car to pass by before making a left turn.

“Here comes a car,” I said for the purpose of saying something.

“I see it,” she replied.

The car came to a quiet yet sudden stop in the middle of the road then disappeared for less than a second and reappeared on the road about one hundred feet from where it came.

We, again, waited for the car to pass by. The kids were going nuts. They couldn’t believe their own eyes. We would have commented about it, but the kids were doing an ample job of just that.

“What did we just see?” I said after the kids were safely inside the day care building. I was hoping that my wife had a logical answer.

“You noticed it, too?” she said while switching radio stations.

The radio DJ came in with an announcement. “If you look up at the sky right now, you’ll see what a UFO looks like.”

His co-host said in a laugh, “Maybe they’ll crash somewhere downtown and we’ll finally have a first encounter that no one can cover up.”

We looked up and saw a large light in the sky. It was bright enough to clearly be seen during the day. We just looked at each other, not wanting to accept the real implications. Of course, the kids wouldn’t let it go. I explained to them that no one would ever believe them even if they had video-recorded the event.

Today, the event is something that no one in our family mentions. It’s one of those things that you might talk about at a party after a bottle of wine or a six pack of beer. People normally won’t believe you, no matter how many witnesses you have.

I’m not sure if we went back in time for about ten seconds or if the car we were watching went back in time. Anyway, some sort of displacement occurred. I may never know for sure.
