Challenge 904

Family Food

  1. In Nemo West’s What Kate Found in the Fringe: What card game does Kate seem to be playing with Quince? How does the game illustrate their conversation?

  2. In Leslie Edens’ World’s Edge:

    1. Where might the story’s setting be in Alaska or Canada? In what season does it probably take place?
    2. At what point might Nome suspect that Barton and Mae are not human?
    3. What do the “witch-lights” feed upon?
  3. In Marion J. May’s Inga’s Persuasion:

    1. By April 1935, Germany had been under Hitler’s dictatorship for almost two years. Kristallnacht took place on November 9, 1938. Does Carol recall events out of their historical order? When does Carol seem to be speaking: today or at some time before today?
    2. When was it too late for Carol to persuade Inga against converting to Nazism?
    3. Given Inga’s perceived character flaws, could Carol ever have talked Inga out of loyalty to Hitler?
    4. How does one counteract those who, today, have not forgotten history and who wish to repeat it?

Responses welcome!
