Think of Ways

by Purbasha Roy

You think of ways
A day hides odes of longing
You stare at zero
Anticipating its fall
On crevices of broken clouds
Wind is verse ruffling your hair
And a sweetened breath of memory
Tumbles out of your unrolled tongue
Images trapped in ripples
Of fountain murmuring love
In saffron folds of sunset skies
You collected stories running closer
To borders of abstraction
Each is the shovel scraping grief
Keeping sadness at the root of canines
And you steal a flickered smile
From childhood firecrackers
The day you complete
Humming odes of silent longing
