J. H. is very partial to related stories, ones that build on each other. As a result, they tend to be snapshots in an album of a larger story and world.

“Ilysveil: Spiral of Madness” is, accordingly and quite evidently, a chapter in a novel. However, it does stand on its own as a short story. A team of very conflicted warriors invade a city to accomplish a mission they hate. Almost every character promises tantalizingly a spin-off story in the labyrinthinze world of Ilysveil.
