Dali’s Rose

by Oonah V. Joslin

The rose that floats in the sky
can never die.
It is illusory as a cloud’s soft breast,
ever high as the distant horizon,

it hopes, it hopes
and clouds all common vision
so that love rules

the landscape of the heart,
scorns our attempts to mock
and to control.
Rises above derision.
