If This Goes On...

If Don can quote Robert A. Heinlein, certainly one of the patron saints (as it were) of Science Fiction, well then, so must I. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery it is said. But, be that as it may, the Editorial header reflects a standard SF concept; what will happen in the future, as illuminated, albeit poorly, by the past.

If this goes on, we will be well on our way to having a respectable magazine. Already, many of the stories are not just readable, they are good. The only things that keep us from greater things are the inability to pay the good people who write for this electronic rag, and the need for wider readership.

It is true, we have readers from all over the world, but our readership is sparse. If we get off the stick and advertise in Analog/Asimov's our readership would probably pick up somewhat. We got a nice jump when I advertised in Megatokyo, an on-line webcomic. And many of them came back.

We want to grow and make our second year as expansionistic as the first. Will we have something as fascinating and SPECIAL as Don's translation of Cyrano? Dunno, but we hope so. We had such a tremendous response to our request for stories for the Anniversary issue, we now have a tiny backlog. Of course, those will be quickly eaten up by Issue 53, so don't forget us. True, right now we are advertised in Ralan's SF4TheLuv, but you will have an appreciative audience and the chance to hone your writing skills.

So keep on keeping on, and as a special treat (or is that Trick Or Treat?) click on The Crew for a series of pictures of the Bewildering triumvirate!

As always,

Jerry. The Bottle Washer
