The name “Dohani” is something of a grammatical puzzle: is it singular or plural? The translator has resolved it thus:

• “the Dohani” (plural) = the generic name of the species
• “Dohani” = same as above, but as an adjective
• “a Dohani” (singular) = an individual; plural = “Dohanis”
• “the Dohanis” (plural) = a group of individuals
