Night-bloom

by Rebecca Lu Kiernan

Dragonflies investigate the labyrinth void
Of water lily laced with heliotrope cherry,
A sliver of cobalt moon ablazes the violet lake
Of fallen amaranthus and nightblack.

A ripple of memory,
Speckled frogs, cicada
Are silenced in the willow.
Incandescently
You have reached
For my face on your pillow
In the unbroken universe
Of home.
