Anna’s World

by Agnes Blom

She once was a child
But can never be again
Once she knew nothing
Now she knows too much

Once there was peace
But now only war
Once silence meant beauty
Now it just means death

Once friendship was here
But bullets are all that remain
Once there was life
Now emptiness reigns

Once there were dolls
Now guns are her toys
Long ago she was loved
Now she is raped

She was young once
But she grew old
Now she’s seen ten full years
But she once was a child.
