Bewildering Stories

Lewayne L. White writes about...

The Review

From the forum messages, it looks like the interview was a success. Everyone seems to get a grasp of how important BwS is to you and Jerry, as well as the amount of work you’ve put into it. We readers have felt a sense of “family” at BwS, and I think the interview confirms it.

I also wanted to thank you for including “Constellation” in the Quarterly Review. For some reason, that piece was a constant struggle. I’m glad it found a home with BwS, and even more elated that it warranted inclusion in the Review.

Always a pleasure to work with BwS.

Thank you, Lewayne... And you’re right about the interview. Jerry and I had never thought of such a thing, ourselves. You had the right idea at exactly the right time.

As I mention to Prakash Kona, in a companion letter in this issue, we feel that Bewildering Stories succeeds to the extent that our contributors do. My impression, from examining other webzines on the Net, is that we — the contributors and editors of Bewildering Stories — are indeed a “happy few.”

“Constellation” does not read like hard work. And that itself may be the surest evidence of the care you took with it. The Second Quarterly Review was the result of long and thoughtful discussion among the editors, and “Constellation” was an enthusiastically unanimous choice.

Let everyone keep up the good work! I look forward to the day when the issue indexes alone will allow the Reviews to go into honorable retirement.
