Books Here, We Gotcher Books

Been doing some research here. We've always wanted to do a realio-trulio dead tree book of "Bewildering Stories", but never really knew how to go about it. Then, along comes Bob Blevins of Adventure Books and www.discountebooks.net. He, of course, just got finished publishing TWO books on his site, and was willing to help Don get The Other World published, and help us to get a BwS book out. And, I believe, he uses LuLu (Lulu.com). Sounds good.

Then, I'm surfing around doing some research for something else, and quite by accident I stumble upon www.fonerbooks.com with a fascinating look at the world of being a publisher.

Did you know that LuLu, PublishAmerica, XLibris, IUniverse, and almost all the other small publishers that do the $14.95 and up trade paperbacks use a company called "Lightning Source" which is a subsidiary of Ingrams, the world's largest book distributor? And the average cost of a (for example) 177 page book is $3.50? Of course, to get Amazon or Barnes and Noble to handle it, you have to give them a discount, perhaps 35 or 40%. And you still make money. There are some other requirements, but the way is out there. So be prepared. Books from Bewildering Stories are coming, and Bob Blevins has been, and will be, of immeasurable help.

I hope that “was” is still “is.” I’ve promised Bob Blevins I’d spend the next few weeks updating The Other World in view of a print edition.
