Bewildering Stories biography

Originally from Birmingham, I have worked as a photographer, teacher and restaurateur. I was always fascinated by the white spaces on maps and this took me via a geology degree to the Taklimakan Desert in China, the ancient Greenstone belt of Zimbabwe and an erupting Mount Pinatubo.

I was in the Czech Republic shortly after the fall of the Iron Curtain, working as an English teacher and discovering the literature of Hasek and Hrabel. From there, I went on to work with refugees from the war in Bosnia, teaching them camera skills to tell their stories.

Back in the England, as the owner of Asian Fusion restaurant Chantek, in Truro, and a keen footballer, my writing on food and football has appeared in local media and When Saturday Comes (WSC) football magazine. My photography is available at jamestaylorphotography.me.uk
