Bewildering Stories biography

“And your very flesh shall be a great poem.” — Walt Whitman

I was born a poem and with each new day, I write the great poem that is my life. I began writing when my grandmother bought me a Little Mermaid diary at age seven, and at that age, I finally knew what I was born to be. The rest of my life is a simple façade. I breathe words.

I am inspired to write by death, turmoil, hypocrisy, joy, history, and just plain living. I am constantly engulfed in the poetry of Sylvia Plath, Walt Whitman, Charles Bukowski, and my students.

People have a thing for credentials, so besides living, my credentials are as follows: I am a high school teacher in Virginia where I teach honors English and creative writing. I have a Bachelor’s degree in English and will soon finish my Masters degree in education.

“When it is truly time, and if you have been chosen, it will do it by itself and it will keep on doing it until you die or it dies in you.” — “So You Want To Be A Writer?” by Charles Bukowski
