Bewildering Stories biography

I discovered my love of writing in the sixth grade. As Halloween approached, my classmates and I were tasked with composing the “scariest of scary” stories, an assignment that all, including myself, were loath to have received. But something unexpected happened. While penning — actually, penciling — an admittedly pedestrian haunted house tale, a spark ignited within my soul. Unfortunately, it didn’t last. As soon as the story was finished, my passion for the written word was inexplicably lost.

During my final semester of college, however, I needed three additional units to complete my English minor and so, on a whim, chose a creative writing course. Once I started down that path again, my wayward urge to tell stories was rediscovered and it’s been going strong ever since.

I live in San Diego with my wife Rebecca and daughter Ainsley. I teach High School English, am in the process of acquiring my MFA in Creative Writing. When I’m not watching college football, I’m playing at the Dog Park with my Great Dane, Ireland.
