Bewildering Stories biography

Paul Carlson lives in the San Francisco Bay area with his wife and teenaged son. He drives a delivery truck to pay the bills, and also to glean some unusual story ideas. A science fiction reader since childhood, one day he caught the “maybe I could do that” bug. Several authors, most notably Poul Anderson, were very encouraging.

Mr. Anderson and I corresponded (via snail mail) for several years, on a range of topics. I only met him in person once, at a reading in Marin County. Later I attended a memorial service for him, at the annual Contact conference, of which he and Karen were an intergral part.
