Cradle of Origin

by B. K. Mox

A day to dive for treasure
in deep water.
To soar into the belly
of the world
and burrow through water and rock
to return to the cradle
of your origin.

A day to lie there
lost a long while,
legs hanging
like an insect.

A day to peek
through a keyhole
to the sound of
the soul of the sea.
A splayed-legged thing
dangling
in the wrong world,
in search of the key.
